ZZ Top Announce 50th Anniversary Tour, Set for the U.S. This Fall; Cheap Trick/Lynyrd Skynyrd Opening

Texas three-piece rock and roll outfit ZZ Top emerged from Houston in 1969 — making 2019 the band’s 50th anniversary. This fall, Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard will hit the road in commemoration of that very special anniversary in a tour announced on Monday.
Beginning on August 16, the tour will hit all sections of the United States and will feature support from special guests Cheap Trick and Lynyrd Skynyrd — so yes, this will be a can’t-miss tour for fans of the iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band.
Excited to announce our 50th Anniversary Tour kicking off this August! Pre-sale begins tomorrow at 10 am local.

Said Gibbons in a statement about the tour:
“It’s been five decades, and I think we’re starting to get pretty good at all this! We’re truly excited to be appearing across the continent this summer and fall, playing our bluesy kind of rock like we started in ’69. The beards, Frank’s excepted, are perhaps a bit longer, yet nothing else has changed. We’re keeping it that way.”
