Watch the Black Keys Reconnect Awkwardly After a Few Years Apart in the New ‘Go’ Music Video

0

The Black Keys will release a new album on June 28 — and so far, Let’s Rock (pre-order here) has been previewed with some slick, high-energy blues/rock songs from the accomplished two-piece.

The band’s latest song, “Go,” was premiered on Thursday with a corresponding music video. In the clip, guitarist/vocalist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney jam out in a field — despite having to navigate the awkwardness of reconnecting after a few years apart.

There are people dancing about and frolicking in the grass, and the whole thing is just plain fun.

Watch it below:

Patrick Carney says, “It was great making this video with [Director Bryan Schlam], partially because it was filmed at the very type of place it is making fun of,” and Dan Auerbach adds, “The video was fun, but we still haven’t spoken.”

Said Schlam of the inspired video:

“For “Go” I felt like we needed to address the elephant in the room. Where have the guys been for 5 years? I thought- Let’s send them to the next level of therapy. A retreat. A commune. A place that’s supposed to symbolize peace and unity…and they’ll hate every second of it.  It was a challenging video, not only in the task of having Dan and Patrick act in almost every shot – but also in keeping a narrative that feels cinematic and funny at the same time. We tried to balance the two, relying on situational humor and the effortlessly cool vibe of the song.”

“Go” joins “Eagle Birds” …
