Out Now: Deluxe Edition of the ‘Remote’ EP Recorded by Indie/Pop Band Wallows During COVID Lockdown

Toward the end of October, Wallows — the indie/pop trio featuring actor Dylan Minnette of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, Braeden Lemasters, an actor known for roles such as Men of a Certain Age and Cole Preston — released Remote, an EP of songs recorded by the group during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pandemic paused the band’s touring plans, but the group found a way to stay busy, crafting six songs that have now been updated with three additional tracks in a Deluxe Edition of Remote, which was made available to stream on Friday.

One of the new songs is “Quarterback,” which received its own music video, stylized to look like a bunch of home movies on old VHS tapes:
The re-release of Remote also features “OK,” the standalone single premiered by the band shortly before the pandemic hit — and with a delightfully 1990s-inspired video of its own, filmed at an old school fast food drive-in in Los Angeles:
The “OK” video is connected to Remote’s video for “Nobody Gets Me (Like You),” which picks up where the first left off:
Were it not for the pandemic, Wallows would have been busy on the road throughout 2020, but the group still found a way to make waves nonetheless. The track “Are You Bored Yet?” (featuring Clairo) became a No. 2 hit on alternative radio (earning Platinum status in the process), helping Wallows be named MTV’s Push Artist of the Month, as well.
Remote is the band’s first EP since 2019’s impressive full-length debut, Nothing Happens, which came after a series of buzzworthy EPs.
Said the band in a statement:
‘Remote’ is a special project for us. We finished it all without seeing each other in person by sending each other voice memos and spending hours chatting on FaceTime. Though the lyrics don’t reflect on or reference our time staying at home, the music wouldn’t have turned out the way it did if not for quarantine. Big love to our producers and friends Sachi DiSerafino and John DeBold for working around the clock with us. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”
It’s been a wild ride for Wallows even through the pandemic, so expect even bigger things to come in the future. Stream the Deluxe Edition of Remote below.
