Van Morrison Debuts ‘Dark Night of the Soul,’ from His New Album ‘Three Chords & the Truth’ — Listen

Van Morrison dropped some news on Wednesday: The celebrated singer/songwriter will release a new record titled Three Chords & the Truth on Oct. 25.
This will be Morrison’s 41st studio album and the follow-up to The Prophet Speaks, which was just released way back in 2018. The man keeps busy, even as he just celebrated his 74th birthday on August 31.
In addition to the album announcement, a new song — “Dark Night of the Soul” — was premiered. Take a listen to the song, which spans six minutes, below:
Three Chords & the Truth will features 14 brand new songs that Van Morrison wrote and produced himself (with the lone exception being “If We Wait for the Mountains, a co-write with Don Black) — because again, he’s a tireless creator and musical innovator.
As Van Morrison’s official site details:
Explaining what it was like to record the album, van morrison said: “you’re just plugging into the feeling of it, more the feeling of it… when they’re playing… it’s like reading me. so, i think there’s more of that connection.”
