Out Now: Vampire Weekend’s Album ‘Father of the Bride,’ the Band’s Longest and Most Ambitious Record to Date (Listen)

0

For much of the past decade or so, Vampire Weekend has been one of the most celebrated and successful indie/rock bands around — and today, the group’s fourth full-length, Father of the Bride, was released. Pick up a copy here.

The interesting thing about this album of new material from the NYC-based group is its abundance — the LP features 18 songs, by far the most of any of the band’s albums to date (the previous albums featured 11, 10 and 12 tracks, respectively).

Given that it’s been six years since Vampire Weekend’s most recent album, 2013’s Modern Vampires of the City, they were clearly quite energized creatively, and that led to jammed-out songs like the first three the band premiered from the album early — tracks like “Harmony Hall”:

Father of the Bride, with its almost hourlong run time and swath of sprawling songs bursting with indie/pop precision, is sure to be one of the year’s best-reviewed and appreciated albums. Stream it below, via Spotify:
