Tin Drum is the “family band” project of musically inclined husband/wife team Burleigh Drummond and Mary Harris, both members of esteemed Los Angeles yacht rock band Ambrosia.

“Hold On” is a new song from Tin Drum, and the “family band” aspect of the project is on full display. Joining Drummond and Harris on the song are their children: Son Burleigh Micky Drummond (who has toured for years with Everly Brothers Experience) and daughter Sierra Rose Drummond (an award-winning singer/composer) provide backing vocals on the track, which also features guitarist Marc Bonilla (Keith Emerson Band, Ronnie Montrose, Toy Matinee).

The song was written by Mary Harris as a hopeful bit of musical uplift during the COVID-19 pandemic, a heartfelt dedication the memory of her niece, Darcie Pena.

More on Tim Drum:

Burleigh Drummond is the founding drummer of progressive pop-rock group Ambrosia, a band that helped define the sound of popular music in the 1970s and 80s with a string of hits and five
subsequent Grammy nominations. Drummond wears many musical hats playing drums, percussion & acoustic guitar as well as providing vocals in Tin Drum. Mary Harris, also a member of Ambrosia, is a singer/songwriter and keyboardist who has honed her skills on the road and in the studio, working with the top acts of Pink Floyd, XTC, Stanley Clarke, and Jimmy Buffet. She provides the main voice and plays keyboards and keyboard bass for Tin Drum.

Throughout the last year, the family has been hunkered down due to COVID-19 restrictions, but they have spent time furthering their creative outlets by writing new material and performing live stream concerts from their home studio.

Tin Drum will be featured in Rock Cellar’s All Together Now-LA2 telethon for COVID relief, coming up on Saturday, March 20. It’s the second annual All Together Now telethon, following our April 2020 event for COVID-19 relief in Los Angeles.

100 percent of the proceeds raised will provide food, shelter & services to homeless families, and support to first responders, musicians, restauranteurs, and more through the Mayor’s Fund and several partner organizations helping those in need including The Midnight Mission, Project Angel Food, MusiCares, Valley Cultural Foundation, and the Get Together Foundation – all action-based organizations making a difference in our community.
