On Tuesday, Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders roared back with the title track to their new album, Hate for Sale.

A punky little anthem with jagged riffs and boundless energy, the song can be heard below:

According to Hynde, “Hate for Sale” is a tribute to punk rock legends The Damned:

“We all love punk, so I think it would be fair to say that “Hate for Sale,” is our tribute to the punk band I considered the most musical of the genre — The Damned.”

This is the second song released thus far from the album, which had an original release date of May 1 but has now been pushed back to July 17 as a result of the music business being paused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Here’s “The Buzz”:

Hate for Sale will be the 11th studio album from the Pretenders, and the first since 2016’s Alone. Produced by Stephen Street, the album features 10 new songs written by Hynde and guitarist James Walbourne — their first full-length album collaboration, per the news release.

As it stands now, the Pretenders intend on fulfilling their scheduled summer tour with Journey, though it remains to be seen if the tour will be canceled or postponed in the coming weeks.
