Next week, The Magpie Salute will return with High Water II, a new album of rollicking blues/rock precision.
The band, which was put together by guitarist Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes, released its studio debut, High Water I, in August 2018, but it’s time for a new chapter.
On Friday, the Magpie Salute previewed the new album with a lyric video for ‘Gimme Something”:
Via the news release about the album:
‘High Water II’ picks up where the band’s studio debut left off, much of the album was written during those early recordings at Dark Horse Studios in Nashville which is why the album feels like a perfect continuation of its predecessor. Talking about the flow between the two albums Robinson explains; “Both records are part of a collective journey. I chose the sequence specifically for each record. I wanted ‘High Water l’ to introduce us to the world and the world to us. With ‘High Water ll,’ I wanted to get a little deeper. To take people places they may not have expected to go.”
The track listing:
1. Sooner Or Later
2. Gimme Something
3. Leave It All Behind
4. In Here
5. You And I
6. Mother Storm
7. A Mirror
8. Lost Boy
9. Turn It Around
10. Life Is A Landslide
11. Doesn’t Really Matter
12. Where Is The Place
The Magpie Salute’s new album comes at an intriguing time, too, as rumors are spreading that the Black Crowes may reconvene for a reunion in honor of their 30th anniversary — which would be noteworthy, given the longstanding issues between Rich Robinson and his brother, Chris Robinson, a relationship that spelled the end of the band previously.
We’ll have to wait and see about that. In the meantime, it’s the Magpie Salute’s moment in the sun, so check out the album once it’s released.
