On Friday, the Bird and the Bee — the indie/pop duo featuring multi-instrumentalist/mega-producer Greg Kurstin and Inara George — will release Interpreting the Masters Vol. 2: A Tribute to Van Halen, which is exactly what its title suggests.

The group turned up at the Late Late Show with James Corden Wednesday night to perform the VH classic “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love” with none other than Dave Grohl on drums and Justin Meldal-Johnsen (an acclaimed musician and producer himself), and their version was pretty unique:

Here’s the band’s take on “Panama,” as a further preview of the record:

And “Hot for Teacher,” featuring Beck:

On Friday night, the band will perform at the John Anson Ford Amphitheater in Los Angeles, with Grohl, Johnsen and Kurstin in tow as a special treat for local fans. Via the news release:

Following tomorrow evening’s Los Angeles performance, the tour continues sans Greg, with stops in Chicago, Brooklyn, Atlanta and more before culminating in a performance on August 30th at Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco. Supporting Inara for these dates, and playing in her band, will be Alex Lilly and Samantha Sidley. Barbara Gruska and Vikram Devasthali will be playing in each act, the former on drums and the latter playing guitar and trombone, while Inara will be taking on singing duties in the opening acts, as well.
