Indie/psychedelic rock band Tame Impala is among the biggest “big deals” in rock music over the past decade, and it appears as if something is afoot. Maybe a new album?
The band’s website was updated recently with a mysterious video that shows band leader Kevin Parker in the studio, flipping some switches and then standing out by the ocean. It’s weird and excessively vague, which is obviously the point.
Tame Impala’s most recent studio album was 2015’s Currents, though the band premiered two new songs earlier this year — first, “Patience”:
And then “Borderlines”:
Despite the premiere of those two standalone singles, little else has been mentioned about the band’s next studio album, which makes this curious video drop all the more alluring to fans and the internet at large.
In the years since Tame Impala’s emergence with 2010’s Innerspeaker, the ensemble has quickly become a can’t-miss player in the music scene, popping up at several high profile music festivals around the world — including a headlining slot at Coachella 2019 — and with each release, their profile has grown even larger.
With this new video tease that seemingly implies something big is coming soon from Tame Impala, we’ll have to wait and see …
