Let this be a lesson to us all: Wild boars will do whatever they want whenever, wherever they so choose. In a series of Instagram stories posted on Wednesday, Colombian pop star Shakira relayed a wild experience she says she and her son experienced in Barcelona: A confrontation with a pack of wild boars, who seized her purse and ran away into the woods.

Apparently, Shakira recovered her stolen goods, though “they’ve destroyed everything,” she was quoted by BBC News as having said in the Instagram posts. Via BBC:

Holding the now recovered but torn bag towards the camera, she said: “Look at how two wild boar which attacked me in the park have left my bag.”

“They were taking my bag to the woods with my mobile phone in it,” the singer continued. “They’ve destroyed everything.”

She then turned to her son, whose father is the Barcelona footballer Gerard Piqué, and said: “Milan tell the truth. Say how your mummy stood up to the wild boar.”

While this sort of story may sound completely wild to some audiences, the BBC notes that for years, “increasingly aggressive hogs” have been an issue for the city:

In 2016, Spanish police received 1,187 phone calls about wild hogs attacking dogs, plundering cat-feeders, holding up traffic and running into cars in the city.

In 2013, one city police officer attempted to take charge of the problem himself and shot at a boar with his service revolver, but missed and hit his partner instead.

Glad to hear Shakira and her son are safe after this potentially dangerous experience.

The singer continues to release new music, having debuted the pulsating “Don’t Wait Up” in mid-July:

She’s also apparently back in the studio working on more material, as shared to her social media pages earlier in September:
