It’s that time of year again — the time to debate, argue and vote for a new crop of musical acts nominated for enshrinement in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Tuesday morning brought with it the official announcement of the Class of 2020 nominees, a varied and eclectic ensemble of acts including the following:
Dave Matthews Band
The Doobie Brothers
Nine Inch Nails
The Notorious B.I.G.
Rufus featuring Chaka Khan
Introducing your #RockHall2020 Nominees 🎉
— Rock Hall (@rockhall) October 15, 2019
Of the crop of nominees, several are up for potential induction after failing to earn the nod in previous years:
Depeche Mode (nominated twice before)
Judas Priest (nominated in 2018)
Nine Inch Nails (nominated twice before)
Kraftwerk (nominated five times before)
The MC5 (nominated four times before)
Todd Rundgren (nominated for the first time in 2019)
Chaka Khan (nominated three times before)
Voting is open now, and here’s the fine print about that:
The Class of 2020 Nominees includes 9 artists on the ballot for the first time: Dave Matthews Band, The Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Motörhead, The Notorious B.I.G., Pat Benatar, Soundgarden, T. Rex and Thin Lizzy.
The 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, presented by Klipsch Audio, will be held at Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio on May 2, 2020 and will be preceded by Induction Week with celebratory events and the opening of the 2020 Inductee exhibit.
