Today, the band releases a new album, Beneath the Eyrie, and it’s another collection of quirky anthems led by Black Francis on guitar/vocals, accompanied by Joey Santiago on guitar, David Lovering on drums and Paz Lechantin on bass (filling the spot vacated by the departure of longtime bassist Kim Deal, who left the group in 2013).
the overall feel of this album can perhaps be best explained in a single track — “Catfish Kate,” which ramps up the quirk (and catchiness) to 11:
