The traveling guitar exhibit “Medieval to Metal – the Art & Evolution of the Guitar” just finished up its staging at the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art in Laurel Mississippi.
This gorgeous exhibit was put together by the National Guitar Museum (curator HP Newquist) and features a wide array of stringed instruments and classic guitars throughout history, plus art illustrations by Gerard Huerta, and photos by rock music photographer Neil Zlozower. Guitar aficionados absolutely need to put this exhibit on their to-do list.
Included objects: guitaron, oud, lute, resonator, Martin D-28 Dreadnought, Ovation Roundback, Rickenbacker 12-string, Gibson Les Paul, Fender Stratocaster, Gretsch Country Gentleman, Danelectro Longhorn, as well as some custom designs like the Teardrop and B.C. Rich “Warlock.”
One of the most recognizable guitars is the famous “Air Guitar” – played throughout the world, but rarely seen in exhibition.
The “Medieval to Metal” guitar exhibit’s planned tour continues:
* The Powerhouse Science Center in Durango Colorado May 1 – September 3rd
* Midland County Museum; Midland Texas – September 16, 2022 – January 2023
* Loveland Museum; Loveland, Colorado June 2023 – September 2023
