Listen: Ozzy Osbourne Bursts Out from ‘Under the Graveyard’ with Sinister New Song

0

Good news, everybody: Ozzy Osbourne isn’t dead. The legendary singer was quick to assure fans of that in early October after a tumultuous few months of health concerns that forced a number of concerts to be postponed or canceled.

He’s very much alive, though his brand new song “Under the Graveyard” is filled with allusions to death and being, well, in the ground in the graveyard. The song was premiered late Thursday night/early Friday night, and is a preview of Ozzy’s upcoming album, Ordinary Man:

The track comes with anticipation, as it’s the first glimpse of Ozzy’s new material with Post Malone producer Andrew Watt. Musician-wise, drummer Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan are involved on the composition, while guitars were handled by the album’s producer, Watt.

Given Osbourne’s recent issues with his health, Ordinary Man is an important record for the 70-year-old, who said of it, “This album was a gift from my higher power–it is proof to me that you should never give up,”

“Under the graveyard we’re all rotting bones,” shouts Ozzy in the track, a slow burn that builds with haunting melodies until it explodes in its final two minutes.

At this point in Ozzy Osbourne’s career, he has nothing left to prove — so it’s pretty cool to see him return from the grave, so to speak, with a track that is both sinister and catchy, with some of that signature swagger the Prince of Darkness is known for.

As for his new album, Sharon Osbourne said it’s coming out in January and as mentioned earlier, involves the production efforts of Andrew Watt, known for his work with megastar rapper Post Malone.
