Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets was launched in recent years as an avenue for the legendary drummer tour the world playing classics from the early days of Pink Floyd to rapturous crowds appreciative of a trip back through time.
In May 2019, the group — Mason, bassist Guy Pratt, guitarists Gary Kemp of Spandau Ballet and Lee Harris from Ian Dury’s Blockheads and keyboardist Dom Beken — performed at London’s Roundhouse, and a live album was culled from that performance. Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets – Live At The Roundhouse was supposed to be released in mid-April, but the COVID-19 pandemic pushed its street date back to this week … and it’s available now.

The recording comes from a gig at the Roundhouse in London in May 2019. A few months previous, Mason spoke with Rock Cellar’s Jeff Slate about his forays back into the early days of his Floyd career, and some of the emotions that come with playing that material again:
Nick Mason, Gary Kemp, Guy Pratt, Lee Harris and Dom Beken, aka Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets, came together with the simple idea of playing some early Pink Floyd – the songs pre ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ – that had not been given a live outing for decades! This was the first time Nick had played live since Live 8 in 2005! “Why don’t we get a rehearsal room and play some things and see how we feel about it?” Nick suggested…
