Monday brought with it two key announcements in the world of Metallica.

First, the band sent out a heartfelt message to fans via social media regarding the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent cancellations of a few upcoming festival dates, as well as some messages of hope for the current difficulties.

The second announcement is of a great new livestream series the band is launching on Monday, March 23 — tonight — called #MetallicaMondays. Meant to keep the spirit of live music alive even as we can’t actually go to any concerts for the time being, ‘Tallica will be uploading classic gigs from the vaults and debuting them on YouTube, beginning with a show from iconic Slane Castle in Ireland, circa 2019:

While we’re all doing our part and staying home, we find ourselves missing live music, so how about we dive back into a few of our favorite shows at a socially responsible distance? Not to sound too cheesy, but now more than ever, we’re in this together, and staying connected is how we’ll get through it. With that in mind, we’re bringing a series of Live Metallica shows right to your couch!

Starting at 8 PM EDT tonight, we’ll be debuting our brand new concert series, #MetallicaMondays, where we’ll stream the complete video of a live show for you on our YouTube channel and on Facebook every week.

We’re kicking it off with an iconic location, so please tune in tonight to watch Metallica: Live at Slane Castle – June 8, 2019.

With this news, Metallica joins Dead & Company as legendary performers to start a new series of streaming concert events, a rather welcome development for music fans over the past two weeks or so of uncertainty.

Be sure to hit up Metallica’s YouTube page tonight to watch the stream.
