In 2019, music icon Mavis Staples celebrated her 80th birthday – and a bunch of her musical friends gathered in Los Angeles for a special concert tribute at the Ace Hotel.
On July 31, FANS will air Mavis 80, a Newport Folk Revival, a special concert streaming event featuring the performances from that birthday tribute last year.
The concert event was filmed in 2019 at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles to commemorate Staples’ birthday, a night that involved several notable musical guests.

Mavis Staples needs no introduction. The legendary gospel and soul singer was an integral part of the Staple Singers and is a successful solo artist and civil rights activist. Mavis will be celebrated by a bevy of incredible artists whom she has worked with across her career including Ben Harper who produced and wrote her latest album, We Get By.
