KZZ Music is a new endeavor billed as “passion project” from Kirk Pasich, the co-founder of Blue Élan Records, and music producers Zackary Darling and Zachary Ross. As the co-founders established a rapport and creative vision, Oasis in the Desert was formed — an innovative and exciting new unscripted live music series filmed at the lush backdrop of Joshua Tree in Southern California.

Per its description: Cameras follow, capturing creative flashes, intimate conversations, tales from the studio and life on the road, as our featured musical artists rehearse and work to perform never-before-heard versions of their classic songs. Focused on showcasing the people behind the music we love, “Oasis in the Desert” delivers a one of a kind concert experience for fans and newcomers alike.

This past Friday, June 18, KZZ Music utilized its resources to stage a special musical tribute to Rusty Young, the singer/songwriter known for his work with Poco. Sadly, Young passed away in April at the age of 75, and a concert tribute event was set up to honor his memory.

Said Pasich of that special tribute: “I talked to Mary Young, Rusty’s widow, as well as some of the guys who have been members of Poco over the last decades. Everybody thought it was a great idea to celebrate Rusty’s work in this way. For the quintessential southern California country-rock band, what could be better than returning to Joshua Tree for this event? I can’t imagine a more fitting memorial for Rusty.”
