The Creedence Clearwater Revival classic “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” helped the band achieve something recently that it had never been able to do yet: Land at No. 1 on a Billboard chart, which it has with a two-week run atop the Rock Digital Song Sales Chart. It’s a first for both CCR and John Fogerty, who penned the track.

This is all rather surprising, given Creedence’s legacy, but it’s true! As for why the track is surging on the Rock Digital Song Sales Chart, well, a news release on behalf of Fogerty lays it all out like this — and it speaks to the ever-growing power of the TikTok platform:

Live touring has commenced with his first shows in over 16 months taking place this past holiday weekend. In addition, John Fogerty also recently embraced the Tik Tok platform, uploading his own videos while also joining in on a “Centerfield” duet with a popular Tik Toker.  The video currently has over 200k views on both channels while John’s Tik Tok videos have garnered over 4.1 million views collectively.

The news release also notes that fellow CCR classics “Bad Moon Rising” (No. 8) and “Fortunate Son” (No. 9) are also currently in the Top 10 of the Rock Digital Songs Sales Chart, which would support those earlier claims of a Tik Tok-based boost in attention for Fogerty’s music.

A Creedence news release, meanwhile, also added that the compilation album Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits recently broke the Top 10 on iTunes’ Top Albums Chart, where it landed at No. 29 on the Billboard 200 (as of June 28, 2021).
