On May 24, legendary singer/songwriterJesse Colin Young will release his new album Dreamers on CD (click here to pre-order) and vinyl (click here to pre-order). The album, which hit streaming platforms already, is his first release since 2006’s Celtic Mambo, so it’s certainly been a long time since the Youngbloods’ founder/vocalist released a new record.
Clearly inspired by our current sociopolitical climate and feeling compelled to make a statement, Young’s song “For My Sisters” previewed the album and finds him at his most emotionally resonant:
In a statement, Young mentioned how long it’s been since his last release:
“It’s been a while since I’ve spoken out,” says Young, whose last solo album was 2006’s Celtic Mambo, “but I feel as if this is the best record I’ve ever made. There’s love songs that really get to the heart of what I’m feeling and have lived through, and on the political songs I’m looking at the world and going, ‘How did everything come out this way?’ The election of 2016 and everything that’s happened since really affected my writing, probably more so than anything in the ‘60s or ‘70s.”
Dreamers was already released on digital platforms, but its May 24 physical release is its first time in that format.
