This coming Sunday, July 4, marks Independence Day in the United States, and singer/songwriter Jesse Colin Young (of the Youngbloods and his own solo career) is marking the occasion with a festive, patriotic music video for “America the Beautiful.”

Debuted on Friday, just ahead of the holiday weekend, the video clip is Young’s way of paying tribute to the country during a key time, as we all continue our re-emergence from the tumult and chaos of the pandemic:

“Coming out of the pandemic we are able to see this country, our America, with fresh eyes,” said Jesse Colin Young in a statement. “I have always loved this song, and wanted to share my version with you so we could revel together in the beauty of this place we call home.”

Young has kept quite busy in recent months. Back in November 2020, he released Highway Troubadour, a set of reimagined songs from throughout his career that provided a fresh take on some of the material that put him on the map years ago with the Youngbloods and beyond. It was his first truly acoustic solo album since his 1964 debut, The Soul of a City Boy.

In March 2021, Young participated in All Together Now – LA2, a very special online all-star concert event and telethon to raise money for coronavirus crisis relief from the Get Together Foundation (and Rock Cellar). It was during that telethon event that Young premiered a new rendition of his classic “Get Together” with The Tribe, some of LA’s top session and touring musicians:
