Actor/activist/musician Jeff Bridges, known the world over as “The Dude” for his role in the Coen Brothers’ 1998 cult classic The Big Lebowski, revealed on Monday that he is currently battling lymphoma.

Bridges, 70, took to social media to make the announcement, doing so with a reference to “The Dude” in the process, as well as a push for his fans to vote on Nov. 3:

As the Dude would say.. New S**T has come to light.

I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good.

I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.

I’m profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends.

Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. And, while I have you, please remember to go vote. Because we are all in this together. http://Vote.org

Love, Jeff

Needless to say, we offer our deepest well wishes and hopes of healing to Jeff Bridges in light of this news.

(We at Rock Cellar remain appreciative of his participation in All Together Now! – an online concert event for the city of Los Angeles’ Coronavirus Relief Fund during the COVID-19 pandemic that Rock Cellar helped put on back in April, and the spirited video message he provided in support of the cause).
