Released back in June, Los Angeles-based indie/rock trio Haim reached a high note with Women in Music Pt. III, the group’s follow-up to 2017’s Something To Tell You and third full-length album overall.

The record garnered heavy acclaim and eventually earned Haim a Grammy nomination — for Album of the Year, no less — and today, an expanded version of the album was released to capitalize on the momentum.

The new edition of Women in Music Part. III features two noteworthy collaborations. Showing up for an update on “Gasoline” is Taylor Swift:

While Thundercat joins the group for a tweaked “3 AM”:

By joining Haim on a song of theirs, Swift returns the favor they gave her for Swift’s evermore album, which she surprise-released in December, when they lent their talents to the song “No Body, No Crime”:

As for Women in Music Part III, it’s one of the most cohesive musical statements thus far from Haim, a group that’s maintained a singular presence in music since first emerging with 2013’s Days Are Gone.

“We were just experimenting,” said Danielle Haim in a bio about the album featured on Apple Music. “We didn’t care about genre or sticking to any sort of script. We have the most fun when nothing is off limits.”

Listening to Women in Music Pt. III, it’s obvious that lack of boundaries was the best thing to happen to the band for this record. The album’s 13 songs defy the “boxing-in” that can come with sticking to a specific genre, allowing their creativity to breathe and expand accordingly.
