As has been the case for most weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic, this weekend will bring with it marquee streaming opportunities for Grateful Dead fans looking for something to watch from home.
On Friday, May 22, the Dead‘s Shakedown Stream series will continue with Beat Club 4/21/72. Before the concert stream, Sam Cutler, the jam band’s tour manager in 1972 will be part of the preshow conversation:
We’re making this week’s Shakedown Stream an international affair with 3 continents, 4 cities, and counting (that’s where you come in, folks). By now, you’re well familiar with our favorite Canadian Mr. David Lemieux and New York’s finest Mr. Gary Lambert so we thought we’d throw an Englishman in Australia into the mix. Sam Cutler joined the Grateful Dead as tour manager for their Europe ’72 stint. He’ll be on the Shakedown Stream pre-show doling out stories from way back and setting the scene for the night’s screening of the 4/21/72 Beat Club performance.

Don’t put away those dancin’ shoes just yet. THE SHAKEDOWN STREAM has been extended! Concerts and the PRE-SHOWS will continue as long as we all have to stay home and weather the COVID-19 pandemic. This Friday, May 22nd, the SHAKEDOWN STREAM is all about international love. The pre-show, hosted by David (Canada) & Gary (USA), will be joined live by special guest, former Grateful Dead Tour Manager, Sam Cutler (UK/ AU Resident). Afterward, there will be a screening of the Grateful Dead’s live performance from Bremen, West Germany (4/21/1972)–recorded while the Dead were on their infamous Europe ‘72 Tour for Beat Club TV. The action kicks off this Friday, May 22nd at 8pm ET/5pm PT on the Grateful Dead YouTube channel. Got a question for Sam?
