Gordon Lightfoot: ’80 Years Strong’ Tour On Now, New Music Coming

Legendary singer/songwriter Gordon Lightfoot has a big year ahead. This week, just shortly after he celebrated his 80th birthday, Lightfoot has headed out on the 80 Years Strong tour, a triumphant name fitting of an industry icon such as himself.
The tour was originally announced back in December, and since then Lightfoot has revealed that he is working on new material. His most recent studio album was 2004’s Harmony, so it’s been a long time coming. As he told Billboard:
In a recent interview with Billboard the Hall of Fame songwriter said, “It’s kind of philosophical and it’s kind of funny,” Lightfoot says of his 21st album. “It’s got a great beat and my arrangements are real good too. I write all my own arrangements for my band. …It’s gonna take a year. It’s there, but it will happen for sure because I already have the material.”
Stay tuned for more on Lightfoot’s new material as it develops, and in the meantime — catch a show! Here’s the remaining schedule of the 80 Years Strong tour:
