Freebo and Alice Howe at McCabe’s Guitar Shop (Photos/Recap)

On Saturday, May 18, McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, California welcomed to its iconic stage a pair of soulful singer/songwriters of two generations sharing their music in a unique musical collaboration when venerable music icon, singer/songwriter/bassist/guitarist/producer Freebo (Bonnie Raitt’s longtime band member, in addition to his extensive work with Crosby, Stills and Nash, Maria Muldaur, Loudon Wainwright and Dr. John) joined together with lovely and talented singer/songwriter/guitarist Alice Howe.
The evening with Freebo & Alice Howe celebrated the release of Alice’s debut album VISIONS, produced by Freebo and recorded in Bakersfield, CA with an all-star band (available at this link). Since their first meeting in 2017, the two have been touring nationally & internationally, including many folk festivals and a critically acclaimed tour of the UK & The Netherlands last fall.

Freebo opened the show with a set of his own songs performed alongside his Fabulous Friends band (John Thomas on keys; Fuzzbee Morse on lead guitar/flute; David Goodstein on drums and Chad Watson on bass).
Then Alice performed songs off her new album, backed by this stellar band including Freebo on fretless bass and background vocals. Playing to a full house that included Norman Harris of Norm’s Rare Guitars, Tracy Newman, Bill Lynch, and so many friends and fans, there is no doubt a good time was shared by all.

There were so many stellar moments in the show, it’s hard to recap, but look at the photos, watch for videos, buy the album, and watch for them to play again around L.A. or anywhere! It was truly a fabulous night all the way around.
