Fred Willard, actor/comedian/writer beloved for years for his irreverent roles in mockumentaries including This Is Spinal Tap from Rob Reiner and the Christopher Guest films Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, Waiting for Guffman and many other roles, has passed away at the age of 86.

The news was reported on Saturday, with Willard’s family confirming that the actor passed in his sleep Friday evening. His daughter, Hope, confirmed the news that her father passed “very peacefully” in the night.

Willard’s passing came just days after Jerry Stiller, another comedy icon and a friend of Willard’s, also passed.
