A Massive Eddie Van Halen Mural is Underway in Hollywood, to Be Unveiled 1/26 for EVH’s 66th Birthday

Guitar Center in Hollywood is the location of an in-progress homage to the late Eddie Van Halen. On track to be officially unveiled on Jan. 26 — the 66th birthday of the late guitar legend, who died back in October after a prolonged battle with cancer — the mural is the work of artist Robert Vargas, and was previewed with a video over the weekend.
The clip, hosted by on-air radio host Leeza London of KXFM 104.7 FM, shows the progress already being made toward the mural. London also notes that Vargas will end up in the Guinness Book of World Records for painting the biggest mural singlehandedly, which is no easy feat.
Here’s the video, which also includes a quick interview with Vargas about the project he’s undertaking:
Vargas has been sharing his own updates about his Eddie Van Halen mural on Instagram:
Vargas says he will continue working on the mural through Tuesday, Jan. 19 — catch his live stream:
I’ll be rocking this again all day Mon & Tues 10am -9pm! You can cruise by outside and watch me create this epic mural from your car or you can tune-in to the live stream here, everyday at 4pm. I will be blasting the entire catalog as I paint!
Looks great so far!
