Next Thursday, January 16 — right as the NAMM Show begins — big names from the heavy metal community will come together at the Observatory in Santa Ana, California for Dimebash 2020, paying tribute to late Pantera and Damageplan guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott.
As previously detailed, this year’s Dimebash event will once again include Dave Grohl, who will be assisting the chaos onstage and grilling up some delicious BBQ backstage for VIPs and his musician pals. Additionally, the show will be co-hosted by SiriusXM’s Jose Mangin and Riki Rachtman.
As for who else will be participating in the evening’s festivities, the lineup is expected to feature members of Accept, Act Of Defiance, Anthrax, Armored Saint, Bad Wolves, Bad Guys Wear Black, Broken Hope, Butcher Babies, Cody Jinks, Crowbar, Cypress Hill, Dylan Rose, Foo Fighters, Hatebreed, Hellyeah, In Flames, In This Moment, Iron Maidens, Kill Devil Hill, King Diamond, King’s X, Kyng, Lamb of God, Lita Ford, Pearl, Prong, Sebastian Bach, Sepultura, Stone Sour, The Haunted, Testament, Tyr and more surprise guests.
Rita Haney, event promoter and Dimebag Darrell Abbott’s partner, said this in a statement about the ’20 event:
“This year will mark the 15 year anniversary since Darrell was taken from us…even more of a reason to come together with friends and chosen family to honor the man that brought so much love and laughter to our lives … not to mention some pretty sick tuneage!!! If you’ve never experienced ‘the room’ at Dimebash, it’s something you can’t describe – the love, the unity, the smiles, the magic. It’s a special kind of vibe you have to check out at least once for yourself. Then you’ll almost know what it’s like to have Dime physically in the room.”
Last year’s event was a head trip of epic proportions, as the night’s festivities featured appearances by the likes of Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour, Pantera’s Rex Brown, Scott Ian and Charlie Benante of Anthrax, drummers Dave Lombardo and Art Cruz, guitarist Nita Strauss, members of Armored Saint, Hellyeah and many more, playing Pantera classics and some of Dimebag’s personal favorite songs from a wide array of artists throughout the evening.
