David Byrne + the Brooklyn Youth Chorus Performed ‘One Fine Day’ on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ — Watch

0

Longtime Talking Heads front man/figurehead David Byrne embarked on an incredible tour last summer titled American Utopia, after his 2018 solo album.

The innovative live performance was so special to Byrne that he then adapted it into a Broadway stage production running now until January at New York City’s Hudson Theatre.

This week, Jimmy Kimmel Live is taping its episodes at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Tuesday night a special performance from Byrne’s American Utopia show went down for the Kimmel audience. Byrne, backed by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, performed the song “One Fine Day,” from Byrne’s 2008 album with Brian Eno, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today.

The song also appears in the American Utopia stage show. Watch the Kimmel performance below:

As for Byrne’s Broadway production, here’s more on that from the Broadway show’s official site:

Following a sold-out world tour, the acclaimed theatrical concert comes to Broadway’s intimate Hudson Theatre for 16 weeks only.

DAVID BYRNE’S AMERICAN UTOPIA delivers “an experience unlike anything else” (Billboard) and marks a major cultural milestone in the worlds of music and theater. Innovative pop/rock icon David Byrne (Talking Heads, Here Lies Love) shares the spotlight with a diverse ensemble of 11 musical artists from around the globe.

Together with production consultant Alex Timbers and choreographer Annie-B Parson (his collaborators on Here Lies Love), Byrne and ensemble deliver “a marvel of staging and motion” (Chicago Tribune) that’s as surprisingly poignant as it is supremely funky. Don’t miss this “thought-provoking example of the power of live music” (Forbes).

Do everything you can to make it to one of these performances. Just saying …
