Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) Releasing Second Solo Album 11/12 — Stream “The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows”

On November 12, Damon Albarn, who’s attained a legacy over the years fronting Britpop legends Blur as well as with his groundbreaking work with the animated supergroup Gorillaz, will release his second proper solo album.

The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows is its title, and will be the follow-up to 2014’s Everyday Robots.

Announced last week, the album is the result of music Albarn conceptualized during the past year-plus of chaos and confusion gripping the world:

“Originally intended as an orchestral piece inspired by the landscapes of Iceland, this last year has seen a return to the music in lockdown and develop the work to 11 tracks. Further exploring themes of fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth.”

The first preview of the record is its elegant and affecting title track, which premiered with the album news:
