Coldplay recently debuted a new single, “Higher Power,” an infectious, synth-heavy new song that featured a video in which Chris Martin and the band were joined by CGI aliens for a parking lot dance party. Since its premiere, the track has racked up more than 75 million streams around the world.

The song (produced by Max Martin) now has another music video, as shared on Tuesday — and this clip, from noted music video director Chris Meyers (Taylor Swift, Travis Scott and Billie Eilish), again features Martin and aliens dancing together in bliss, this time in (per a news release) a colorful trash planet named Kaotica, whose alien language (Kaotican) features in the video and across the Higher Power artwork.

Those dancing aliens are actually Seoul’s Ambiguous Dance Company.

Said Meyers of the concept behind the clip: “The video is a metaphor for how, right now, we all feel alienated, far removed from our world, almost like we’re on an alien planet. And ultimately we find love in the streets and that euphoria shoots us off into the stratosphere of our own energy and higher power.”

“Higher Power” is believed to be a preview of the band’s forthcoming ninth studio album, which, when released, will be the follow-up to Everyday Life, which was released in November 2019 and packed quite an emotional tone into its 16 songs.
