For four months, residents and staff of Sydmar Lodge Care Home in Edgware, England, have been stuck in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The senior citizen residents at the home are among the highest-risk members of the population, but they haven’t let the dire circumstances get them down. Quite the contrary, actually, as members of the community and staff put tremendous effort into recreating classic album covers while in lockdown, with rather incredible results.

Robert Speker, the co-director of activities at the home, shared some of their work to Twitter over the weekend.

Here’s the faithful recreations of records from Adele, Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen and Queen:

Elvis Presley, the Clash, Michael Jackson and Johnny Cash:

Blink-182, Madonna and David Bowie:

And, finally, Rag’n’Bone Man:

A very nice job all around, we must say.

As these are difficult times for facilities such as Sydmar Lodge Care Home, Speker set up a GoFundMe page for the facility, adding the following:

I’m Activities Co-ordinator at Sydmar Lodge Care home where the Residents have been in Lockdown for 4 months and it’s been my job and privilege to keep them entertained during the COVID crisis with no outside entertainers or family.

As this situation is on-going it could be months before the situation changes for them and the need to keep them happy entertained and full of spirit has never been more crucial.

The photography project – recreating Classic Album covers, with the Residents and Carers has raised awareness globally but with no funds for the home which was my original intention.

Elderly people will remain in lockdown for a long time, and I want to make their time as happy and full of enjoyment and interest as possible.
