2019 marks the 35th anniversary of Soundgarden’s formation in Seattle, Washington in 1984 — a confluence of events that would set in motion one of the most innovative and powerful musical forces to emerge from the robust Pacific Northwest scene in the mid-to-late 1980s, paving the way for what would be the “grunge” movement. And though vocalist Chris Cornell is gone, the band has its sights set on celebrating the anniversary — and Cornell’s influence — with a massive reissue plan for the rest of the year. https://twitter.com/soundgarden/status/1104034851278057472 The initiative, Soundgarden 35, will feature an “Album of the Month” series…

Cage the Elephant’s new record, Social Cues, is said to have drawn its inspiration heavily from the personal experiences of front man Matt Shultz, especially his recent divorce. The band’s newest song, “House of Glass,” premiered on Friday, and follows that theme, with lyrics about isolation and the titular house made of glass. Musically, it has a slightly sinister tone to its overall feel, and it’s a solid listen. Do so below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1ZYRfK2v3E “House of Glass” is the second song released thus far from Social Cues, which will be out on April 19th, following the previously premiered hit single “Ready…

Stray cats may be notoriously tough to corral, but it’s been done for 2019 — at least referring to the band, that is. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the iconic rock and roll trio’s formation in 1979, and they’re going to celebrate in a big way. Brian Setzer (guitars/vocals), Lee Rocker (bass/vocals) and Slim Jim Phantom (drums/vocals), all original, founding members of the group, are back together for a big tour and new studio album. That’s right, a new album — which will be the first album from the band in 26 years! It’ll be released on May…

The alternative rock scene of the 1990s was dominated by a handful of acts — and among them were Bush and +Live+. The two acts hit it big in 1994, Gavin Rossdale and Bush with Sixteen Stone and Ed Kowalczyk and +Live+ with Throwing Copper. 25 years later, the two bands are teaming up for a big summer tour commemorating the anniversaries of both those albums, and they’ll do so with the help of Our Lady Peace, another alt/rock act that achieved quite a lot in the ’90s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WPbqYoz9HA This co-headlining tour will bring the bands to 33 cities across…
