When Disney announced Disney+, it felt like the entire planet was through the moon with excitement — and understandably so! After all, we’re talking about arguably the most well-known and universally beloved entertainment mega-company putting up hundreds of classic programming on its own digital platform — one that costs less than Netflix — for immediate consumption. https://twitter.com/disneyplus/status/1194208215216476160 But when the service officially launched on Tuesday, the severe crunch of use from all around the world hit the servers hard. So much so, that users complained of service issues, glitches and a lack of functionality caused by, well, everybody hitting it…

When English pop superstar Robbie Williams first announced plans for a residency in Las Vegas at the Encore Theatre at the Wynn in Spring 2019, it was a bit uncertain how things would go. After all, while Williams is a massively successful entity around the world, that usually comes with an asterisk designating *everywhere except the United States*.  Would the shows be successful? Would they sell? Would Robbie Williams be a draw? Turns out, they did, and he was — and the shows, his first on U.S. soil in nearly twenty years, drew in sold-out crowds of fans from around…

The music of Fleetwood Mac is among the most cherished of all time, but before the band broke through with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, it was an entirely different group — helmed, of course, by co-founder Mick Fleetwood. And on February 25, 2020, Fleetwood will pay homage to that early phase of his iconic band — specifically the era involving the band’s co-founder, Peter Green — with a special, star-studded concert at the London Palladium. https://www.instagram.com/p/B4uJPYdIflo/ Said Fleetwood in a statement, as passed along by Rolling Stone: “The concert is a celebration of those early blues days where we…

It’s admittedly rather strange to see so much activity from prog/metal masters Tool, but this is our new reality — and for fans, it’s a great one. Back on Aug. 30, Tool released Fear Inoculum, a sprawling new album that marks the band’s first release since 2006’s 10,000 Days. The band also embarked on a big six-week tour of arenas that were largely sold out, making it quite a hot ticket to get. https://twitter.com/Tool/status/1193937042326994944 And now, after a few weeks of success out on the road with a captivating live set blending material new and old, Tool announced on Monday…

Madonna has long had a reputation for … being a unique spirit when it comes to live performing. That is, it’s not uncommon for the legendary pop singer to make her fans wait interminably long at concerts for her to take the stage. That’s rubbed some fans the wrong way on Madonna’s current tour, for her (strange) 2019 album Madame X. At the tour, a smaller-scale (and somewhat challenging) trip through theater-sized venues over the past few weeks, she’s taken the stage as late at 10:30 PM, well past the stated 8:30 start time. Via TMZ, this had led to…

Ozzy Osbourne is feeling pretty great right now, thank you very much — and on Monday, the iconic vocalist announced a batch of tour dates that make up for those he had to reschedule due to a series of unfortunate medical setbacks in the past year or so. Specifically, Ozzy announced some new shows in Europe and the U.K. as part of his ongoing No More Tours 2 farewell tour, which has carried him around the world for a while now. https://twitter.com/OzzyOsbourne/status/1193905600842743809 These shows in particular had been scheduled for January 2020, but they will now start in October 2020…

The rumors were true: The Black Crowes are, indeed, back together and will embark on a big tour in 2020, performing the classic 1990 album Shake Your Money Maker in its entirety each night. The news was officially announced on Monday, as brothers Chris Robinson and Rich Robinson have ended a lengthy time apart and will convene once again for the 30th anniversary of the album, which launched the blues/rock band to stardom three decades ago. https://twitter.com/theblackcrowes/status/1193913218248265728 Quotes from each Robinson, provided in the news release: Chris Robinson says of reuniting, “I’m thrilled & blessed to be playing with my…

For fans of the Foo Fighters, there’s simply no such thing as hearing “everything,” because Dave Grohl pretty much hasn’t ventured out of the recording studio in decades. That’s a lie, obviously, but the man is dedicated to the craft — so much so that some early Foo Fighters demos were written while he was still a member of Nirvana (like “Marigold”), and over the years he and his Foo pals have recorded plenty of material that never ended up on an official full-length album. Lately, the Foos have been releasing various digital EPs, as they more or less empty…
