With the coronavirus pandemic driving everybody indoors as the world comes to grips with its new reality and strives towards a return to normalcy, Rolling Stone has launched a new Instagram series that will launch today, Wednesday, March 18, via IG TV, with a special performance from Brian Wilson.
“In My Room” will be precisely what its name implies — a series of performances from key musicians, playing music and entertaining from the comfort and safety of their homes and/or home studios. It begins with a performance from Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson, which will go live at 3 p.m. ET at Rolling Stone‘s Instagram page.

This is the logical progression of something we’ve seen spring up over the past few days: Musicians taking to social media to entertain their audience. Coldplay’s Chris Martin, U2’s Bono, Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie, Michael Stipe of R.E.M., the Dropkick Murphys, John Legend and others are among those who’ve adopted this method of keeping the music alive — and keeping souls enriched a bit, as we all navigate the difficulty of the situation before us.
Said Rolling Stone of the “In My Room” series:
We’ll be releasing episodes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3 p.m. ET — not only with legacy artists, but with newer artists too; with artists across genres and across the globe.
