Today, tomorrow, and yesterday, too/The flowers are dyin’ like all things do, begins Bob Dylan in “I Contain Multitudes,” a surprise new song premiered late Thursday night.

The track turned up on streaming platforms without any official announcement ahead of time, similar to how the legendary songwriter premiered “Murder Most Foul,” his 17-minute epic on the JFK Assassination a few weeks back.

Another lyrical song — just at a quarter of the length of the previous song — “I Contain Multitudes” features Dylan’s spoken-word delivery set to gentle guitar strumming and verses like this one:

I’m just like Anne Frank, like Indiana Jones
And them British bad boys, The Rolling Stones
I go right to the edge, I go right to the end
I go right where all things lost are made good again
I sing the songs of experience like William Blake
I have no apologies to make
Everything’s flowing all at the same time
I live on the boulevard of crime
I drive fast cars, and I eat fast foods
I contain multitudes

“Murder Most Foul” was released on March 27 and became the first Bob Dylan song to land at No. 1 on any Billboard Chart — a remarkable feat in Dylan’s cherished and timeless career, and somewhat.

Now that Bob Dylan has premiered two songs out of the blue within a month, who knows — maybe there’s more to come in the weeks ahead …
