Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong has roots in the San Francisco Bay Area so deep they tend to follow him around from project to project, and his latest is no exception.

A few weeks back, Armstrong announced his #NoFunMondays weekly covers series, a project designed to allow him to exorcise his musical demons while stuck at home in quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The fourth installment of this covers series came on Sunday — a day early, but who really cares about that? — and in the form of a lively rendition of “Corpus Christi,” a song first popularized by Bay Area punk outfit The Avengers on their 1979 EP.

Despite its name, this is a fun little series of covers that are proving to be a great way for Billie Joe Armstrong to pass the time. After all, the Green Day front man is notorious for always keeping busy with one project or another … so this ought to keep him occupied for a while.
