Pop superstar Billie Eilish had an amazing night at the GRAMMY Awards this past Sunday. Nominated for six awards, she took home five as a result of the groundbreaking success she has seen since the release of her 2019 album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

Four of those wins came in the General Field GRAMMY Awards — Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year. In winning each of those four categories, Eilish did something that had only been done once in GRAMMY history, in 1981 by singer Christopher Cross.

It was an unprecedented accomplishment for Christopher Cross in ’81, and the same can be said for Eilish in 2020. On Monday, Cross went on his Facebook page and congratulated Eilish and her brother/producer/collaborator, Finneas O’Connell, on their achievement.

My record of winning the four General Field Grammys in one night stood for 39 years, until a talented young sister and brother came along. Congratulations to Billie Eilish and FINNEAS for their remarkable contribution to music history. Well done. Records are made to be broken, and I could not be any more pleased with their achievement. Welcome to the club, friends. ☺️
