Back in late 2000 I was browsing a Yahoo! Group for fans of Limp Bizkit. Very much a snapshot of the era, that’s how 15-year-old me decided to spend my free time. A post showed up from someone who was obviously a member of a street team (remember those?), calling attention to a new album from a band called Linkin Park. I hadn’t yet heard of this band, or their debut album, Hybrid Theory, which the excited street team post said to go and check out “if you like Limp Bizkit,” which I very much did. As this was the…

On June 23, 311 released Mosaic, the twelfth full-length album for the long-running alt/rock band. This time around, the band — vocalist/guitarist Nick Hexum, vocalist S.A. Martinez, bassist Aaron ‘P-Nut’ Wills, guitarist Tim Mahoney and drummer Chad Sexton — worked with producers John Feldmann and Scott “Scotch” Ralston, as well as a host of co-songwriters. The result is a rich, layered listen that truly is a Mosaic of sounds from the band, now veterans of the rock realm responsible for hits including “All Mixed Up,” “Amber,” “Beautiful Disaster” and more. Near the start of their 2017 Summer Unity Tour launch,…

Since forming in the Los Angeles suburb of Calabasas as high school students in 1991, the members of Incubus reached prolific heights as a band. They’ve toured the world in support of their seven full-length studio albums, seen lofty chart results with singles such as 2000’s “Drive,” and have consistently challenged themselves creatively. On April 21, Incubus releases their eighth album, appropriately titled 8, their first full-length LP since 2011’s If Not Now, When?. Co-produced and mixed by Sonny Moore, a.k.a. Skrillex, the album is a refreshing mix of styles, sounds, and themes, with singer Brandon Boyd’s signature vocal style leading the…

For the past two decades, Corey Taylor has been the ringleader of the metal band Slipknot. He’s also, even before Slipknot, been the lead singer of the hard-rock band Stone Sour — and he’s also published three books to date as well. In 2016, he began hosting a Beats 1 radio program titled A Series of Bleeps. He’s done some acting, too. Simply put, the man’s always working. With Stone Sour ramping up for a huge year in 2017 with an ambitious new album in the works, Rock Cellar was fortunate enough to grab some one-on-one time with Taylor at the recent…

Watching Richie Furay and his talented band plow through an accomplished set at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California in late February of 2015, one walks away not only extraordinarily impressed by the enduring nature of his songwriting catalog but with his robust and expressive voice, an ageless wonder which still resonates with the same joy and passion heard on classic records by his bands, Buffalo Springfield, Poco and the Souther-Furay-Hillman Band. His new solo record, Hand in Hand, his first in eight years, finds the artist, now approaching 71 years of age, at the top of his game,…

Despite those bumps in the road, Alexakis remains committed – Everclear (and its new lineup) is preparing to release a new album and embark on another successful summer tour. For the next…
