When Blink-182 forged on without founding guitarist/co-vocalist Tom DeLonge, fans were largely curious if the hugely successful alt/punk band would find its own voice with new guitarist, Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio. On Wednesday, the band premiered a new single titled “Blame It On My Youth,” off a forthcoming studio album that serves as the follow-up to 2016’s California. The track, featuring some electronic-tinged production and led by drummer Travis Barker’s signature rhythm, is extremely catchy — but the overall feel of the song is somewhat surprising: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SleFHBDZb8k The lyrics, delivered by bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus and Skiba, are thoughtful, reflecting…

In the early days of Florida-based pop/punk band New Found Glory’s career, they became known as “the covers band,” according to singer Jordan Pundik, who said as much at the band’s recent album release event in Los Angeles. That’s because their 2000 EP From the Screen to the Stereo put them on the map in a big way, energized and punked-up covers of songs from Titanic, Goonies and more turning people on to the band’s brand of music. Flash-forward 19 years later, the veteran pop/punk band has released its third EP of movie theme songs, as From the Screen to…
