We haven’t heard from Angels & Airwaves, the indie/rock band helmed by former Blink-182 guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge, in years, but the band returned on Tuesday with synth-heavy new song titled “Rebel Girl.”

The song is the band’s first bit of new music in three years (since 2016’s Chasing Shadows EP) and is a preview of Angels & Airwaves’ upcoming album/film project.

Said Delonge about the song: “Rebel Girl is a space-age love song that combines my enduring obsession for New Wave, pop punk and anthemic rock and roll music. As some of you might’ve heard, I recently took a brief minute to start up an aerospace company, so you never know – I may play this song from a satellite deep in space, beamed toward everyone’s house viciously on repeat.”

Though he’s been away from Blink-182 for a few years now, DeLonge has kept busy with To The Stars… Academy of Arts & Science, where he’s investigated various topics relating to space and UFOs.

Angels & Airwaves will head out on a North American tour on September 4, seven years after their most recent live performance … so, again, it’s been a while.
