Just before the COVID-19 pandemic forced bands off the road and everybody into their homes for the foreseeable future, alt/rock/funk veterans 311 played a handful of special concerts, culminating in a multi-day “311 Day” experience at the Park Theatre in Las Vegas that concluded on March 11.

Along the the way to the Vegas shows, the band’s biennial gathering (and extended concert event), 311 played two shows in New Orleans for Mardi Gras. This Saturday, Aug. 15, a concert film will be premiered online and on DirecTV, pulling from both New Orleans gigs and capturing the band in its energetic live form.

Said 311 front man Nick Hexum:

“We were thrilled to kick-off 2020, our 30th Anniversary Year as a band, with two great shows during Mardi Gras in New Orleans. From there we had scheduled to play all 50 U.S. states to celebrate with our fans, until our tour plans were derailed for the obvious reasons. So we’re grateful to have this memorable concert to share with our fans to thank them for thirty years of their continued support.”

The concert will premiere Saturday, August 15th through Direct TV at 8pm PDT (Channel 104/105) and at FanTracks.com at 6pm PDT.

311 was to spend Summer 2020 on the road with Incubus as a means of celebrating its 30th anniversary, though the pandemic forced that tour to be cancelled. Instead, 311 will reportedly start a video series in mid-August:

311 will begin a 9-part webisode series, called “30 Years of 311”, which will feature 7-minute video clips spanning the band’s career. This will be posted on 311’s online social channels every Wednesday.

311’s most recent album was Voyager, which was released in July 2019.
