It’s been nearly two decades since Huey Lewis and the News released an album of new original material, but that’s on track to end relatively soon.
The classic pop/rock group announced a new deal with BMG and plans for a new album are in the works. Said Lewis in a statement:
“We’re very excited about our new album, and honestly feel that it’s among our best work — we cannot wait to get it out to fans! We’re equally excited to be with BMG, whose reputation as a ‘music-first’ label precedes them admirably.”

While it remains to be seen if the material will touch the timeless highs the band reached decades ago with albums such as 1983’s Sports, it’s exciting nonetheless to hear new activity — especially considering Lewis’ recent cancellation of 2018 tour dates, as the front man deals with hearing issues.
Here’s hoping the best for Huey Lewis regarding his hearing loss and that he’s able to get back in the studio and record what’s sure to be an anticipated new album. Stay tuned for more …
