On Wednesday, it was announced that musician, philanthropist, and activist Pegi Young has passed away at the age of 66 after a battle with cancer. Young’s official Facebook page made the announcement:

In addition to releasing five albums over the course of her career as a musician (including one in 2017), she married Neil Young in 1978, eventually co-founding the Bridge School (and its subsequent star-studded Bridge School Benefit concerts in Northern California, a yearly event until it was canceled recently).
The most recent and last Bridge School Benefit was the 2016 affair, which featured Young, Metallica, Roger Waters, Willie Nelson and more — in retrospect, a fittingly huge way to bow out as its final event.
May Pegi Young rest in peace.
