It’s that time again — time for opinions to fly, arguments to be had and fan votes to be cast. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its official list of nominees for 2019 on Tuesday morning, and it’s a pretty eclectic list of artists spanning genres, decades and styles this time.
The following are all up for potential induction to the Hall as part of the class of 2019:
LL Cool J
MC5 (related: read our recent chat with Wayne Kramer)
Rage Against the Machine
Todd Rundgren (related: Enjoy a RockCellarTV segment with Rundgren regarding the recent Utopia reunion tour)
Rufus & Chaka Khan
Fan voting information is up now at the Rock Hall’s official site.

This marks the first year of nomination for Def Leppard, Devo, John Prine, Roxy Music, Stevie Nicks and Todd Rundgren, as the other acts on the list have been eligible for induction in past years.
From this new list will be a crop of fresh inductees to the Hall, following 2018’s class that included the Cars, Bon Jovi, Dire Straits, the Moody Blues, Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame may have its share of critics, but it remains an institution of rock and roll music — so early congrats to whichever acts from the new list make it in next spring!
