Bob Seger Announces ‘Travelin’ Man’ Final Tour, Celebrating Five Decades of Rock and Roll

He’s been at it for decades — but Bob Seger has decided to go out on one final tour, commemorating five decades as a rock and roll icon. Seger announced on Tuesday that his upcoming string of dates with the Silver Bullet Band will be his swan song, at least in terms of full touring is concerned.

It’s being called the Travelin’ Man Tour, and will begin in late November. Currently, Seger is on the road finishing up the string of Runaway Train tour dates that were postponed from last fall due to a medical emergency. His most recent album was 2017’s I Knew You When, which can be purchased at this link.

From the press release about the new tour:

Tickets for the new dates in Buffalo, Cleveland, Louisville, Fort Wayne, Peoria, Grand Rapids and rescheduled shows in Dallas and Houston will go on sale Friday, September 28.  Tickets for new dates in Toledo and Nashville will go on sale Saturday, September 29.
Additional shows will be announced in the coming weeks, including dates in Las Vegas, Fresno, San Diego, Vancouver, Florida and more.

We heard Bob Seger with what must’ve been an early version of the Silver Bullet Band back in mid-winter of1971 when the group came through Wooster Ohio… must’ve been a “gas stop” or a rehearsal session… because it was un-announced except on campus, that there would be “a band” playing in the main concourse of the new gymnasium, still in it’s first year and barely broken in. So a bunch of us piled in the car, caught a toke as we headed over, just looking for a diversion. But when we got in there out of the cold, pulled our coats off, and the band guys plugged in and started playing, we heard that VOICE… it was like “OMG, it’s BOB SEGER!!!” …One of my best memories of those (long dark winter) college years. Gotta try to see that Nashville show!
