Aree and the Pure Heart hail from Atlanta, Georgia, and are preparing for big things. The band’s creative force, vocalist/guitarist Aree Ogir, recently inked a deal with Wiretap Records in Los Angeles to release his debut LP later this summer, after making some noise with his 2015 debut Heartstrings EP.
The first song unveiled from the new project is “Gasoline Heart,” and Rock Cellar has the exclusive premiere for you below. Listen to the song, which pairs some energetic, hopeful riffs with wistful lyrics about life, love, the highway and more, below:
“Gasoline heart deals with the life changing experience of having my daughter undergo open heart surgery at 4 months old,” Ogir explained about the song’s inspiration. “Her birth awakened in me a sensation of life that just begged for more. The grief and heartbreak of dealing with her health, coupled with her vibrant recovery has inspired me every day of my life. The song reflects these feelings of suffering through the worst and emerging boldly to bleed life dry for every bit of goodness it has to offer.”
It’s easy to see this song fall in line with the interests of acts like the Gaslight Anthem, Ryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, and the like. Good luck getting that out of your head!
