Hear Yoko Ono’s Jarring ‘Where Do We Go From Here?’, Off Her New Album ‘Warzone’

“Where Do We Go From Here?” is a bit of an uneasy listening experience. Taken originally from Yoko Ono‘s 1996 album Rising, its subject matter is one of passion and intensity — much like her overall oeuvre of work.

As she’s done each week since announcing her forthcoming album, Warzone, Ono premiered a new version of the song this week — and the fresh take on “Where Do We Go From Here?” is just as unsettling and jarring as the original. Take a listen:

And here’s the original:

More insight about the album:

Yoko revisits and reimagines 13 songs from her past work, spanning 1970-2009, the lyrics and messages still pertinent—perhaps even more pertinent—in 2018. “The world is so messed up. Things are very difficult for everybody. It’s a warzone that we are living in…” says Ono. “I like to create things in a new way. Every day things change.”

We’ve now heard four songs from Warzone, which will be released on October 19, with “Now Or Never” coming last week and  “Hell In Paradise” the week before, following the title track.

Why shouldn’t she record?! She’s an artist in her own right. She has many dissenters, but she also has many followers of her work. The song “Imagine” is a masterpiece and it certainly would not exist in its present form without Yoko Ono’s influence.
