Receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is generally considered a strong token of appreciation for a public figure, whether an actor, comedian, humanitarian or another status worthy of such accolades — and on August 27, “Weird Al” Yankovic will (finally) receive his for his decades-long career.
The news comes shortly after Al and his band finished the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour, a trek across North America catering to only the most dedicated fans interested in long concerts of deep cuts and rarely-played material.
The time has finally come… On Aug. 27 at 11:30 AM I’ll be getting my very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (6914 Hollywood Blvd., right across the street from the Chinese Theatre). The ceremony is FREE and open to the public, so come on down!!

Al’s friend and mentor Dr. Demento will be on-hand for the star dedication event, as will actor/comedian Thomas Lennon, another of Al’s dearest colleagues:
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced today that “Weird Al” Yankovic will be honored with the 2,643rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, August 27th, at 11:30 a.m. PDT. The star will be dedicated in the category of Recording at 6914 Hollywood Boulevard across the street from the TCL Chinese Theatre.
“Weird Al has single-handedly created an industry of parody! His fans have been waiting for this star for a very long time. We are excited to honor this very funny man on our world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame,” stated Ana Martinez, Producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies.
Congratulations, Al! Keep being weird.
